Slip behind the wheel of the new 911 and the interior looks like familiar territory. That's because much of the inspiration appears to be drawn from the Panamera sedan. There's now a long center console that slopes down toward the driver. And the instrument binnacle is similar to the Panamera's as well. There is a much deeper dashtop extending away from you to the windshield base, and the car's A-pillars are more steeply angled. The Porsche 911 has always been a handling icon known for its agility and the extraordinary feedback it provides the driver. A large part of that experience comes from the precise and deliberate information fed up through the steering wheel. The 911, in an effort to reduce the load on the engine and improve fuel economy, ditches its hydraulic steering pump in favor of a new electro-mechanical steering system.
